Craft Night

I hosted craft night this month. We made these wreaths out of fabric strips. It is always so much fun to hang out and have a girls night! And the wreath is a lovely decoration on our door to welcome Spring!

Bridal Shower

 Last Saturday I helped decorate for my cousin's bridal shower. The bride to be is in the back row with the dark dress.

 I found this idea from Pinterest. I had embroidery hoops and found different textures of lace. Bought the different color ribbon and hung them up with fish line.

 I used spanish moss and mason jars for centerpieces. One jar had a candle the other flowers.

 Each guest had to bring their favorite recipe and one ingredient to start her pantry.

So excited for the wedding next month!!

My Newest Creation!

Using my silhouette I got for Christmas, some onesies, and some scrap material I had, I created these for my girlfriend who is having a baby girl in a couple of weeks.! It's so fun and easy, and a great way to dress up a plain shirt. I can't wait to make more!!

Cupid's Crush

I took the kids to a Valentine's party today. The kids always pass out Valentines while the Mom's watch and take pics. I love my friends and they deserve something too. So I made them their own Mom's Valentine. I bought strawberry Crush and made the tags with my Silhouette machine. 

On the back I wrote: Cupid's got a CRUSH on you!

Ornament Exchange

 

I recently attended an ornament exchange. I had never participated in one before. We each made enough ornaments for all of us to go home with one. 

I love each ornament that was given to me.

In no particular order:

Megan's- Go and venture in the woods. Cute a branch, drill a hole, and find some string. It's so rustic and simple, I love it!!

Robyn's - Can you believe that underneath that Ho, Ho, Ho, pretty paper is part of a paint stick that she just painted?? Genius!!

Kendra's - Two cinnamon sticks tied together with pretty material. This ornament smells so GOOD!!

Kasey's - I just bought 1 1/2 inch ribbon, cut it to 1 yard, took a needle and some string and threaded it through every  1 inch on one side of the ribbon and then pulled tight. The middle piece is actually a clip on earring. I just tore the back part off, and hot glued it onto the ribbon.

Jen's - Felt stockings with cute felt embellishments. So pretty.

Jess's - It's a snowman!! She hand painted the face on a clear ball, and stuffed it with tinsel. 

Holly's - Her star ornament is made out of card stock paper!! With a little bit of glue and time you can make one too. You can find out how she made this ornament HERE. It's beautiful.

Liza's- ceramic candy cane, decorated with ribbon!!  My kids love to look at this ornament on the tree. The silver ribbon sparkles against the lights. 

Rudy's - Window pane. It reminds me of Christmas morning. We would always look out our window to see if there was snow on the ground. You actually set it on a branch.

Valerie's- Baby Jesus. I know she used a little bit or garland, Moss, felt for the blanket, and a wooden ball for baby Jesus face.She coiled wire around a pencil or market for the star.  A great reminder of the reason for the season!

Alicia 's - Darling ribbon flowers with embellishments. Very creative and cute.

Another Inspiration

Last night, I met up with my long time friends for a dinner to honor Heather and her baby. Can you believe she only has two weeks left? She looks awesome. This is her 1st baby. She is thinking it's a boy. They are waiting until birth to find out for sure. We are so happy and excited for her. We all pitched in and bought the baby a swing. I wanted to make a little something for her, since it was her special night! I made a corsage inspired by The Pretty Poppy.

Here is a closer look. I just used ribbon that I had. I cut a 2.5 inch circle out of felt. The center pin is actually a pin I bought in the crafting section. I just twisted the ends off and hot glued it to the ribbon.

Here is the back. I attached a 2nd circle using felt glue to the 1st circle. It covered all the stitching that was done to hold the ribbon in place. I then used a pin attachment. Also bought that in the craft section @ Hobby Lobby.

Neighbor's Junk = My Treasure

Neighbor's across the street were moving out. They put this bulletin board out by the road. I saw potential. I used my free quart of Gilden paint, to paint the trim. Thanks Mom, for helping me out with the painting.

Finished product! I bought this fabric from Hobby Lobby. I tucked the edges in with a knife. I love how it turned out. Now Stella can pin her drawings or awards on her board.

Subway Art Tee Shirt

Step 1: You'll need poster board, different size sharpies, and a printed sheet of your child's name, year they were born, and several adjectives that describe your child. I bought a packet of 5 11x14 poster board paper from Hobby Lobby for a little over $1.00. You'll also need a blank tee shirt. I bought the tee shirts from Hobby Lobby too. $1.50 a piece.
I have a font program that I installed on my computer. I used a different font for each word. The thicker the font the easier it is to trace.

Step2: Place the poster board and shirt underneath the shirt. Trace the words using a sharpie. My husband did this part. He said the finer tipped sharpies work better. You'll notice on Stella's shirt, some of the letters bled a bit. He said the bigger markers will bleed easily on the shirt.

Step3: Enjoy the finished product!

Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy

Last week I made these necklaces for my nieces. They were easy to make. I bought the charms and necklaces from Hobby Lobby. I used scrapbook paper and a sticker for the letter. I used adhesive glue to seal the necklace.

I sent them with a letter hoping they have a great school year, and said they can add the necklaces to their new wardrobe for school this year if they'd like.

Puppet Play

Yesterday we made wooden spoon puppets. The kids later put on a puppet play for me. It was fun designing the clothes. I found this idea from a different blog I had posted in a previous entry.

Latest Project

Here it is. My flag. This idea is not mine, I got it off Joys of Home. I used our left over bead board from our bathroom remodel. I used another piece of bead board for the blue section, (just turned it around) and the star is from Hobby Lobby. I like the way it turned out, all except for the glue drip!! I'll have to fix it later.

Get Creative for the 4th!

My girls at Activity Days last week made patriotic place mats, or they could be used as mats to sit on at the parade. I bought the felt at Hobby Lobby and the girls used their creativity and made their very own place mat. I thought they did a great job.

*When You Wish Upon a Star

Because the star is such an important symbol on our flag, representing the individual states that make up our country, the Fourth of July is a good time to lie down on blankets outside as a family and look up at the stars in the sky. Have each person express a wish for the country and for the family as they "wish upon a star."


* Neighborhood Parade

Gather the family and neighbors who would like to participate and have a parade. Decorate, bikes, strollers, wagons, and wheelbarrows with crepe papers, balloons, and streamers. Wear hats, and be sure to include red, white and blue somewhere in your outfit. Have some traditional patriotic music accompany you as you march up and down the street.



* Birthday Party and Gifts

Have a birthday party for America. Serve birthday cake and ice cream and sing "Happy Birthday." As a family, write down specific "gifts" you might give to America that will make you better citizens or will make the country a better place for all those around you. Include ideas for beautifying the neighborhood or treating others with respect.


*Clothes for the Country

Have every family member dress in red, white, and blue, to show their patriotism. Buy special socks, ribbons, and hats to add to the occasion.

After

I made this up this afternoon. I was thinking of a quote to hang in the bathroom. Then I thought of a Veggie Tale movie they have about Self Worth. Self Worth + Mirror = a quote for reassurance!! Every time you look in the mirror are you happy? Are you thankful? Do you put yourself down, or lift yourself up? I thought this quote fit just right! The stars are cut outs from some extra scrapbook paper I had. The frame was taken from another room. Frugal decoration!!
I grabbed this cute silver basket from Target. Then I bought different shades of tan, brown, and black washcloths to use as accent/decoration. I love our new toilet paper holder. I purchased that at Wal Mart.
We found the counter top at Home Depot. I think we purchased this for $30 something. Good deal. I painted the cabinets black and added brushed nickel knobs and hinges. The faucet and mirror were there already. We then put up bead board and put up a chair rail. It's the same trim as the bottom, we just turned it upside down!

WFMW: Wall Decor

We do not have a headboard for our bed, just the frame. I have been wanting to find something to put on the wall behind our bed, but didn't know quite sure what. A while ago, when the Easter decor was on clearance at Target I saw these charger plates for $2.50 a piece. Instantly I knew that these would go great above our bed, all they needed was a little spray paint.

Birthday Decorations

I had several different sizes and colors of ribbons in my craft dresser. I also had several sizes, colors, and designs of scrapbook paper. I decided to put them to good use. I love the bright colors and designs. It makes me happy.
I had some leftover ribbon. I thought it looked cute draped over the light fixture.



This of course is a Martha Stewart product. I thought these tissue balls are just too cute. I hung a light pink ball in the other corner. You can find this package at Wal Mart for $9.54 for a set of 5.

This year she didn't really have a theme. I just made some simple decorations with most things I already had. Simple was key this year, especially since she only turned 3!! I'm sure as she gets older she'll be more particular about her themes for her other birthdays!

Home Depot

Daddy took his kids to Home Depot for the the free race car track building for the kids on Saturday. They had so much fun while I was at Women's Conference at church. They came home with little Home Depot aprons and race car tracks and race cars.

Yesterday we hosted a Valentine's party at our home. Stella had several friends over. The were able to decorate soap bottles (this idea was from here), frost sugar cookies, and exchange Valentine's with each other. It was a great time being together as friends.

Tickled Pink!!

Cassie from Little Window Shoppe, asked me if she could feature my: For the Love Post, on their website. I was honored and happy that my ideas were used with others. Last night, I was able to go over to my friend's house and learn to make hair bows!! It was so much fun. It's a lot of fun to work with ribbon. It takes me longer than the average person to make a bow, but there is a lot of concentration and gluing, pinching, grabbing, choosing, etc!! I had a lot of fun. I would like to make more soon. How about you, have you made hair bows before? Did you enjoy making them?

Homemade Gifts, Do Not Read Mom and Sisters!!!

Ornaments for Grandma and Grandpa of the kids. Took a picture for the kids, cut out the face, took a black sharpie and filled it in. A little modge podge and some paint and your have yourself an ornament!!
I bought a set of words in the scrapbook section, and glued some magnets to it. I'm sorry about the lighting, they really look better in person!
Here is the three magnet boards I made for my family. I also bought little decals for .25 cents each and glued a magnet on each of them.

Christmas Open House

This is our new tree. I bought a pre lit tree. I love it. My new additions to the tree are my cardinals.
Some ornaments on the down stairs tree. I printed Peace on Earth and put it in the photo frame.
All of these houses my Mom hand painted. They are very special to me.
My Mom also cross stitched my stocking. It makes me feel so good to know that she spent that much time on something for me. So much detail went in to it.
